The entire world is suffering from the disastrous impact of COVID-19, and travelling during this time can be tough. Canada’s COVID situation improved in the mid-2021, but the country is again facing impeccable issues with the Omicron variant. Several provinces have again reintroduced restrictions to deal with rising Omicron cases.

In summer 2021, the Canadian government made a two-week quarantine necessary for travellers. Non-vaccinated foreigners are only allowed to enter the country for non-discretionary purposes. The Canadian government is yet to disclose the new restrictions related to the Omicron variant in the coming days.

Who Can Visit Canada?

Canada is taking extra precautions to deal with the COVID-19 situation. However, Canadian citizens are allowed to enter the country if they are obliged to complete a self-quarantine of 14 days if they are not fully vaccinated.

Apart from it, international travellers are also required to get fully vaccinated before entering Canada. The approved vaccinations are:

  • Janssen/Johnson & Johnson
  • Sinopharm
  • Sinovac
  • Pfizer-BioNTech
  • Moderna
  • AstraZeneca/COVIDSHIELD
  • COVAXIN

Apart from vaccinations, travellers are required to submit electronic or written documentation stating a negative COVID-19 RT-LAMP or PCR test within the last 72 hours. Those travelling by land to Canada are required to show a negative COVID-19 molecular test conducted in the U.S within the last 72 hours of arriving.

If the person suffers from Canada, they are allowed to travel after 14-90 days of getting corona-free. The positive COVID-19 test should not be older than this time frame.

Are There Any Restrictions?

All travellers are required to submit their travel and contact information on the ArriveCAN app or website. You must have an extensive quarantine plan, including information about where you will stay, how you will get groceries, and so on. If a person is found to violate the rules, they must spend six months in jail and pay a fine of CAD$ 750,000.
